European Union foreign chief Javier Solana on Friday said that Britain is likely to head a multinational peacekeeping force in Afghanistan.
The force is likely to include troops from all EU member states, Solana said.
Solana said the force would be deployed in and around the capital Kabul.
"It will be basically an EU force, led by one country from the EU, with that country probably, very likely being Britain," he was quoted as saying by an agency report.
