Highlighting the growing cracks in the Afghanistan opposition, a visibly disgruntled Afghanistan President Burhanuddin Rabbani on Wednesday expressed his unhappiness at the United Nations brokered Bonn accord, but said he would abide by the agreement and step down when the interim administration takes control on December 22.
Disagreeing strongly with the composition of the 29-member Afghan interim Cabinet, the de-facto leader of Afghanistan, since the Northern Alliance forces rolled into Kabul, however, said he was happy with the choice of Hamid Karzai as the prime minister-designate.
"We are sticking to our promise -- we hope on the 22nd of December, the transfer of power will take place," Rabbani was quoted as saying in a report.
But, the report also quoted him as saying that the Northern Alliance was coerced into accepting the deal.
On the expected arrival of foreign peacekeepers in Afghanistan, Rabbani said, "We hope this will be the last interference of foreign countries in Afghanistan."
