 September 6: Ganesh Galli, Lalbaug in central Bombay, is another immensely popular spot to head for a Ganpati darshan . Guesstimates from mandal organisers vary wildly, but between themselves they finally agree that this idol gets visits from at least a million people during this period. The lane up to the pandal, that houses this captivating Ganpati, is lined with wee stalls selling anything from popsicles to drums. Ganesh Galli has organised sarvajanik Ganeshotsavs, since 1928 and takes credit for having first created the tallest Ganpati some years ago. NEXT Photographs: Jewella C Miranda. |
