Lisicki is the first German to make the women's singles final at Wimbledon after 14 years since Steffi Graf, who had texted Lisicki before her Thursday win over fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska, the Mirror reported.

The 23rd seed Lisicki, who has recorded a 6-4, 2-6, 9-7 semi-final win after two hours 18 minutes on Centre Court, is now likely to have the crowd behind her versus France's Marion Bartoli, who was booed in her quarter-final win over Sloane Stephens, the report added.

Expressing her pleasure at the support from the British crowd, Lisicki, who beat defending champion Serena Williams in the fourth round, said that there is no better feeling for her to have such support on Centre Court at Wimbledon, adding that it makes the winning much more enjoyable.

Lisicki further said that she believes that Germany is also happy with her progress, adding that coupled with Graff's good luck wishes, she fought her best in the semi-final game and thus won the match.
