Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova

The pin-up girl of tennis for a long time has received much flak for her dressing sense on the tennis courts. This year at the US Open she must have heaved a sigh of relief as her grey dresses were spot on. The day and night dresses were simple and sporty.

Designed by Nike, they were deemed wearable by the people.

But the tournament ended quite early for Sharapova, and the dress that really complemented and did justice to her figure was hardly seen because of her early exit.

Her shots on court did not get her as rave the reviews that her dress is getting her. This Ellesse fluffy dress, with frills, gets the right attention for Voskoboeva, as it suits her perfectly.

Though it looks more of a cocktail outfit, it's quite cute on this girl from Kazakhstan.

Venus Williams

Venus Williams

When we talk about fashion and tennis, Venus has to be discussed.

Her fascination with lace is not yet over. Though it was not a corset this time around, the little black dress did look pleasing.

But Venus has to shock with her dresses, and so there it was -- white lace back with the pink zipper that looked tasteless.

The dress was as shocking as her withdrawal from the tournament!

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

Over the years, Serena Williams seems quite settled with the choice of clothes on court. After a long time, she is back with Nike and gets to flaunt her red dress for the day and blue for the night. She sure cuts a pleasing figure, the red hot colour suiting her style of play.

Caroline Wozniacki

Adidas gave top seed Caroline Wozniacki different shades of grey with stylish outwear like the sleeveless hoodie in white and light grey to go with her outfit.

Though the ruffled dresses do take a break, had they been a little more colourful, Wozniacki would have topped the charts in making fashion statements too.

Ana Ivanovic

Adidas came up with a sharp, red dress for this Serbian, with Orange accents. The red was to boost her confidence but proved a little short as she too bowed out of the Open, falling prey to Serena Williams.

Victoria Azarenka

Having made an early, but well-fought, exit against Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka looked quite pleasing in the blue Nike outfit.

Bright colours suit Victoria, and though she was in a different shade of blue, the changing style made her stand out.

Having been booed at the French Open for a red dress and matching shoes, Jankovic came to the US Open with a yellow outfit. Hope it brings the much-needed brightness in her career too.

Bethanie Mattek Sands

Bethanie Mattek Sands might come across as the bad girl of tennis through her dressing sense. However, this time, it was a patriotic theme for her. Her American-flag tube socks and the red shoes matched the occasion.

Her bright red dress did not see even the third day at the US Open as Sloane Stephens packed her off in the second round itself.

But Peer's red outfit beautifully incorporated the feminine mesh into the sporty tennis pale outfit.
