But Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was a little surprised by Barcelona's lack of creativity. He expressed his thoughts, "Bayern really looking strong here. Surprised Barca can't manage to create any chances. Not over yet though."
Ajax forward Ryan Babel enjoyed Thomas Mueller's celebration and tweeted, "A real German celebration #Mueller lol!"
Former Bayern midfielder Dietmar Hamann tweeted, "Don't think you can play much better than Munich did in first 60 minutes #outstanding"
Marseille midfielder Joey Barton tweeted, "Thomas Mueller. Game over. Anybody who isn't copying what happening at Bayern Munich right now, on an off the pitch, is already playing catch up. This is the club now."
Former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker couldn't believe Mueller wasn't called out for a foul on Jordi Alba in the build-up, "Shocking piece of refereeing to miss Alba getting Mullered!"
Ex-Barcelona midfielder Gaizka Mendieta agreed and tweeted, "Why do they have an extra official? At least, two of three goals shouldn't have been allowed! First goal was clearly offside & second Alba was blocked!"
And finally, former Barcelona forward Luis Garcia was gracious in defeat, "Nothing to say, Bayern were too much today, great game by the German team."
