Premier League champions Manchester United may be also in the race with Real Madrid to acquire Spurs striker Gareth Bale, as Tottenham is seemingly more receptive to the English champions after being frustrated by negotiations with the Spanish side.

According to The Independent, United have not yet made a firm offer for Bale, and, as the transfer window enters its last three weeks, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is beginning to doubt whether the Spaniards actually possess the funds.

The impediments to United securing Bale include Spurs' valuation, which is believed to be around £110 million, the report said.

Manchester United's new manager David Moyes said the club is moving forward to make new signings every day as the transfer deadline gets closer. He added he is happy with a lot of good English players in the team.
