A week after becoming the national champion, Delhi lad Yuki Bhambri, on Sunday, won his first ITF Futures singles title abroad, and sixth overall, after defeating Ruan Roelofse in the summit clash of the Nigeria event.

The fifth seed Indian faced stiff resistance from his South African rival before prevailing 7-5, 7-5 following a close to two hours battle in the $ 15,000 hard court event.

Yuki who is languishing at No. 479 in the rankings is expected to break into top-400 after this win.

The 19-year-old player was inside the top-350 in 2009 and 2010 seasons but injuries hampered his progress on the senior circuit.

He won all his five ITF titles in 2009.
