WWE's Kane on sarees, curry and The Great Khali!

June 12, 2009 18:16 IST

WWE superstar KaneWWE superstar Kane may be a cold-hearted, ruthless monster in the ring, who chokeslams and powerbombs his opponents into submission. But if you want to make him blush from embarrassment, just ask him about Indian women.

That's exactly what happened today at Kane's press conference at the Taj Land End Hotel in Bandra, Mumbai, when he was quizzed about women from the sub-continent.

"Indian women are, um, great!" he said sheepishly, before flashing a knowing grin.

And the Indian national dress for ladies, the sari?

"It's nice. It's pretty revealing, and bares the midriff!"

Dressed in a casual white shirt and a slick pair of trousers, the 7 foot, 150 kg Kane looked every bit the gentleman, a complete transformation from his in-ring persona, which is all hellfire and brimstone. In a thirty minute give-and-take with Mumbai journalists, he also showed off some keen intellect and an impressive understanding of India and her culture.

He's is in India for three days on a whirlwind tour of Delhi and Mumbai. He'll head back to the US tomorrow night, after having a chance to interact with some of his dedicated Indian fans.

Interestingly, for Kane, a 14 time WWE champion and the half-brother of WWE star The Undertaker, coming to India's become a matter of habit. It's his third time!

"I love India," he said. "It's hectic but spectacular."

A little bit later he added, "The food's fantastic too."

When asked about reports that he had met up with Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar, Kane couldn't stop gushing about one of India's leading actors.

"I have a lot of respect for what he does. He's a huge star, but he still does his own fight scenes and stunts. It's rather remarkable."

So, did the two share fitness tips?

"Yea, I drink protein shakes every day," Kane said jokingly. "Akshay drinks mango shakes."

Any plans to star in an Indian film some day?

"Maybe. I hear that involves some singing and dancing, which I'd like to give a try."

And how about our own home-grown WWE superstar, The Great Khali? What does Kane thing of him?

"Khali is a great asset for the WWE. His popularity is over-the-top in India. He's probably the biggest draw here. Also, Khali also has great acting skills, as I thought he stole the show in the movie Get Smart."

Kind words for The Great Khali, from one giant to another!
