India ousted in MWG football quarters

India's football campaign in the ongoing fourth Military World Games came to an end on Tuesday after Egypt defeated the hosts 1-0 in the quarter-final.

A solitary goal by Lt Colonel Abdul Naser in the 101st minute clinched the match for the visitors, who are among the favourites.

India had just one victory in the league stage when they beat Afghanistan 1-0. The host team lost to Brazil 0-3 and were beaten 0-1 by Qatar in the other group matches.

Meanwhile, in the other quarter-final Cameroon beat Guinea Republic 3-0.

In the women's league, D P R Korea registered a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Germany.

Korea, Guinea, Brazil, Qatar and Ireland have entered the last eight stage.

Two quarter-final matches - Qatar Vs Ireland and Brazil Vs DPR Korea - are scheduled to be held later today.
