Sneijder set to make record 35 million pound move from Inter to Man United

Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder has indicated that he is ready to sign for Manchester United and leave Inter Milan in a club record 35 million pound deal.

Sneijder's arrival will take United boss Alex Ferguson's summer spending to more than 85 million pounds.

"Everyone expects Wesley's move to United to be announced soon, maybe as early as Wednesday," The Sun quoted a teammate, as saying. 

Sneijder is expected to agree on the bumper contract that would eclipse Wayne Rooney's 220,000 pound a week deal.

Inter Milan have, however, denied claims that Sneijder is planning to leave the club and join United.

"It all looks imminent, no matter what Inter or Wesley may say in public. It seems Inter want to sell but don't want to admit it, while Wesley wants to go but does not want to say it. It is a good move for him and good business for Inter," a source was quoted as saying.

Sneijder joined the Italians from Real Madrid in 2009 and helped them win the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in his first season in Milan.

Meanwhile, ace striker Wayne Rooney is excited over the dawning of a new era at Manchester United this summer.

United is all set to fly to America today for a three-week pre-season tour of Boston, Seattle, Chicago, New York and Washington.

With Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Edwin van der Sar retiring, and Wes Brown and John O'Shea having joined Sunderland, Sir Alex Ferguson has overseen a significant overhaul of his squad, The Mirror reports.

In have come keeper David De Gea, defender Phil Jones and midfielder Ashley Young, with Ferguson looking to add Arsenal's Samir Nasri or Inter Milan's Wesley ­Sneijder.

"It's obviously sad to lose all those players from the dressing room. On the other hand, it's exciting having new players coming in. You want to see how the new players get on in training and in games so it's certainly exciting as well," said Rooney.

"Brown and O'Shea are ambitious footballers and want to play every week, so I understand why they have left but I'm sad to lose them as players and friends as well.

"It's certainly going to be a loss for us but they'll be excited to start a new life at Sunderland," Rooney added.
