India's campaign came to a halt at the Vietnam Open Grand Prix badminton tournament after Sameer Verma went down to second seed South Korean shuttler Lee Hyun-il in straight games in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Friday.
Unseeded Verma lost 15-21, 22-24 against his World No. 24 Korean opponent in a men's singles quarter-final, which lasted 42 minutes.
Verma was the lone Indian left in the fray after the big names of Indian badminton -- Ajay Jayaram, B Sai Praneeth and R M V Gurusaidutt -- lost their respective men's singles second round matches earlier to crash out of the tournament.
