UK's Southall football club is looking forward to set up an academy to develop the budding sportspersons, that in time is believed to extend beyond football, director of finance and marketing Rajesh Gautam said in London, on Tuesday.

The club is mulling to brew up the existing facilities and faces a much brighter future under the ownership of Football & More Limited.

"The club will establish local facilities including an academy for developing youngsters that will in time extend beyond football into other sports. The club looks forward to working with Ealing Council to play a full part in local regeneration as part of its commitment to community citizenship," Gautam said.

The new chairman of the club, founded in 1871, Tommy Taylor said, "This is without doubt one of the most exciting and demanding challenges I have been part of.  There is a lot of work to do, but the interest and commitment shown by my colleagues on board and the people of Southall makes it a challenge that I am proud to be part of."

Vice-chairman Charanjeet Singh Gill while emphasising that the club wants to be seen as a reinforcing agent said, "The new ownership team wants to be judged on delivering success not only on the football field but also being seen as a responsible and contributing part of our local community."

Gautam added, "We believe that there is a real opportunity for the people of Southall to engage in this new era of Southall FC.  We hope that local businesses will get behind us in our work and will support us with endorsements and sponsorship as we 'come home' to Southall."
