Rafael Nadal climbed one place to fourth in the ATP rankings released on Monday.
The victory over Dominic Thiem in the Madrid Masters final on Sunday saw Nadal’s rankings improve.
The Spaniard is now 15-0 on his favoured surface this year having also picked up his 10th titles in Monte Carlo and Barcelona in recent weeks.
Thiem on the other hand moved two places up to seventh.
There is also a minor shuffle in the WTA rankings released on Monday with Angelique Kerber displacing Serena Williams at the top.
Kerber’s ascension to the world number one position was followed by her performances in the Madrid Open, where she made it to the third round and faced Eugenie Bouchard and retired with a lower back injury trailing 6-3, 5-0.
Kerber is however confident that the left hamstring injury she picked up at last week in that Madrid Open third round game will not threaten her French Open hopes.
"I am feeling much better, I mean I did a check after my match in Madrid and I'm lucky it's not too bad, it's just a muscle strain," she was quoted as saying on the WTA Insider Twitter feed on Monday.
"I've had a lot of treatments. I arrived last night, practised this morning and feeling good."
The 29-year-old Kerber, who returned to the top of the rankings ahead of the pregnant Serena Williams, will be one of the main favourites to win in Paris.
