Sania cakewalks past Namigata

Indian ace Sania Mirza cakewalked through her opening match in the Sunfeast Open, beating 23-year-old Junri Namigata, ranked 283, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round at the Netaji Indoor stadium on Tuesday.

The third seed will meet Hungary's Melinda Czink, who beat Argentina's Ma-Emilia Salerni 6-4, 7-5 in another first round match.

Two breaks in each set sufficed for the 34-ranked Indian sensation to cruise home.

Namigata had got past Taipei's Su-wei Hsish 6-7(4-7), 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to enter the main draw.
