Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hailed Sergio Aguero’s 'unique' skill of sniffing out chances in front of goal, and David Silva’s ability to ghost past defenders after Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League victory at Bournemouth.

Argentine striker Aguero scored a brace to chalk up 400 goals in his career on a day Spanish midfielder Silva played his 400th match for City in all competitions.

“The game was tight and you know everything could happen. And Sergio, you know his sense of goals in the box is unique in the world,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Big compliments to the players ... it was so important (Aguero’s second goal).”

Before the match Guardiola had said he was 'happily wrong' after doubting the diminutive Silva’s ability to succeed in England since signing in 2010 from Valencia.

The 33-year-old left Guardiola lost for words after another classy display in which he provided an assist for forward Raheem Sterling’s goal and Aguero’s second.

“What can I say, everybody knows him,” Guardiola said of Silva, who said in June he would leave the club at the end of the 2019-20 season.

“He has a sense to move between the lines like nobody else in the world — he is a fighter.”

City’s record goalscorer Aguero opened the scoring with help from Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who became the quickest in Premier League history to reach 50 assists.

De Bruyne reached the milestone in his 123rd game, eclipsing the record held by Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil who needed 141 matches.

"Congratulations to Kevin ... he's an amazing player," Aguero told the club's website here

“He and David, their assists are so good. We’re happy because they play for us ... for the manager with this squad, it’s hard to make decisions on the starting eleven.”

Coach Klopp plans one-year break after Liverpool stint - report

Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp said on Monday he expected to take a break from coaching to recharge his batteries once his term at reigning European champions comes to an end.

Klopp, who joined Liverpool in 2015 and has a contract till 2022, led the club to the Champions League title last season while finishing a close second to Manchester City in the Premier League.

“I have absolute energy. But I have one problem. I can’t to ‘a little bit’. I can only do ‘all or nothing’,” he told Germany’s Kicker magazine.

“When I decide that I cannot do it any longer then I will take a break for a year.”

Klopp joined Liverpool after a successful time at Borussia Dortmund where he won two league titles and a German Cup while also reaching the Champions League final in 2013.

Liverpool, who have not won their domestic league since 1990, are currently top of the table with maximum points from three games, two ahead of title rivals City.

Victory in the Premier League combined with last season’s Champions League crown would instantly turn Klopp into the most successful Liverpool coach in decades.

“After that year (break) a decision must then be taken,” Klopp said. “But chances are very high that my energy level will then be there once more and that I can then do the job the way I want to.”

Klopp is known for his passion and energy on the sidelines while his excitement has landed him in trouble with match officials in the past.

The 52-year-old has also been repeatedly linked with the German national team and Bayern Munich in the past.
