National champion Pankaj Advani continued his superb run while India's women cueists put up a disappointing show on the fourth day of the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Jiangmen, China, on Tuesday.

Advani and former Asian champion Yasin Merchant recorded contrasting wins while two Indian women -- Chitra Magimairajan and R Uma Devi -- suffered reverses against more fancied opponents.

Advani came up with three finely constructed breaks on the way to a 4-1 victory over Jin Long of China in a Group C match.

The Indian notched breaks of 72, 90 and 60 to triumph 72-28, 9-78, 71-35, 104-24, 69-43.

Merchant came from behind thrice to defeat Hong Kong's Chi Wai Au in Group F 35-51, 78-32, 30-76, 70-25, 86-33, 21-99, 92-6 in match of fluctuating fortunes.

Both the Indian women were no match for their opponents as they lost their matches tamely.

hitra lost her Group C match against Val Finnie of Scotland 76-42, 64-74, 68-14, 80-33 while R Uma Devi was blanked Natascha Niermann of Germany, 23-63, 23-60, 30-58.
