Rejecting ideas of the advent of a Rory era, Rory McIlroy said that his recent victories have although pushed his confidence to an all-time high yet he is not sure if it can be called the start of an era.

The 25-year old golfer remarked that sometimes people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon.

McIlroy won his last two tournaments at Royal Liverpool and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone last week and is now preparing for the US PGA championship.

The Northern Irishman is now aiming to become the first player to win back-to-back major titles since Padraig Harrington won the Open and the US PGA in 2008.

After Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, McIlroy is only the third player to win the three modern majors at the age of 25. He now needs just the masters to become the sixth player in history to win all the four major titles in his career.
