There was romance all around at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with the engagement of two Scottish cyclists on Sunday.

It was a victory of sorts for Scottish cyclist Chris Pritchard who participated in the track cycling event at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome on Sunday.

After a third-place finish in a ride-off for the minor places in the men's keirin, Pritchard proposed to girlfriend Amanda Ball with the crowds at the stadium looking on.

Pritchard was still in his gear when Ball said ‘yes’ as the crowds cheered in the background and the cyclist pumped his fists on ‘tasting victory’.

"It has taken a lot of hard work," Pritchard said of the move.

The Sheffield-born cyclist added: "I couldn't tell anybody because I didn't want it to get out, it was top secret."

Another Scottish cyclist who is set for marital bliss is Aileen McGlynn.

When McGlynn's boyfriend, Graham Hinchliffe, asked her to marry him, she said yes without a second thought.

Para-sport star McGlynn, 41, got a ring to go with her silver medal after her partner Graeme proposed.
