As the football fever grips the nation, a replica of the World Cup trophy has been carved entirely out of sweets in the western Indian city of Kolkata.

The replica has been widely appreciated by the customers and is made entirely out of kheer (rice pudding).

The owner of the sweet shop, Sudip Mallick said, "We will also be doing lots of other sweets dedicated to many football teams like Spain, Germany. And all the sweets will be different from each other prepared specially."

Football is a very popular sport in Kolkata. Brazil and Argentina are the two most popular teams supported widely by people.

The matches are scheduled to start from June 12 and will be hosted by Brazil for the first time since 1950.

The opening match of the 2014 football World Cup, between Brazil and Croatia, will be played on June 12 in Sao Paulo, but according to Indian Standard Time, it will be played on June 13 at 01.30 am.
