Mehta's name was announced by the emcee during the function but he was nowhere to be seen in the public view, even though the tainted official was very much present at the occasion and was believed to be there in the stands.
"I was there in the stands. I had to leave for a meeting but I went only after the function," Mehta said.

Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had said that the government had sought a report on how Indian Olympic Association's Mehta and international wrestling referee Virender Malik were arrested by the Scotland police at Glasgow.

Meanwhile, the IOA president N Ramachandran informed that the IOA will conduct an internal enquiry into the Glasgow incident and give a detailed report to the government.
He, however, refused to divulge the whether Mehta and Malik would be reprimanded.
