India’s Sameer Verma bagged his second badminton title in a row by clinching the Bahrain International Challenge at Isa Town on Sunday.
Fresh from his victory at Bahrain International Series last Sunday, Sameer beat Singapore's Zi Lian Derek Wong 21-14, 21-10 in the summit clash.
Seeded 11th in the tournament, Sameer had upset top seed and world number 42 Tien Minh Nguyen in the quarter-finals. The Indian was in brilliant form in his semi-final against compatriot Rahul Yadav, winning the match 21-13, 21-17.
Speaking about his good showing in Bahrain, Sameer said, "I am really happy with the way I have been able to play over the last two weeks. There were some tough matches especially the quarter-finals against (Tien Minh) Ngyen and I am happy to have won. After these victories, I hope that I can continue my good form through the year."
