Mansher tied second, Manavjit tied fourth

Mansher Singh secured a tied second spot while Manavjit Singh Sandhu was trailing at fourth place at the Asian Clay Shooting Championship in Jaipur on Friday.

Naser Megled, the upcoming marksman from Kuwait was leading the race after securing 74 points out of 75 at the end of three qualification rounds in the Trap event at the JDA Shooting Range.

Mansher shared the second spot with Abdul Rahman Afaihan of Kuwait after scoring 73 points.

World Champion Manavjit Singh failed to perform up to expectation levels as he could manage just 69 points to be tied fourth with Chen Chien Yi.

The Indian women team, consisting of Shagun Chowdhary, Seema Tomar and Varsha Tomar, bagged the silver medal in the trap event. Kazakhstan won the Gold while the bronze went to Japan.

In the individual event Yelena Struchayeva of Kazakhstan and Lin Yi Chun of Chinese Taipei led the field with identical score of 66 after three rounds.

Yukie Nakayama of Japan and local girl Shagun Chowdhary were at third and fourth place with a score of 65 and 64 respectively.

The Indians had a good day in Trap junior event as Shreasi Singh (41) and and Shriya Chowdhary (21) won silver and bronze medals respectively in the girls category.

Ol Wan Ling (49) of Singapore won the gold.

In the Grand Prix event, running parallel to the clay competition, Shagun Chowdhary won silver in women's category. Naser Megled (74) was leading the men's event.
