Serena Williams is set to return to tennis at the Wimbledon warm-up event in Eastbourne starting on Saturday, after a year sidelined by illness and injury.
The reigning Wimbledon champion was given a wildcard into the grasscourt event where she will join sister Venus who herself has been absent from the tour since January.
"I am so excited to be healthy enough to compete again," said 13-times grand slam singles champion Serena in a statement from tournament organisers.
"These past 12 months have been extremely tough and character building. I have so much to be grateful for. I'm thankful to my family, friends, and fans for all of their support. Serena's back!"
Wimbledon begins on June 20.
