Serena Williams has extended her lead in the WTA rankings after her fourth consecutive Grand Slam title at Wimbledon on Saturday, with the World No 1 now having more than twice as many points as her closest rival and World No 2 Maria Sharapova.

Sharapova, who lost to Serena in the Championships semi-final, rose two spots, while Petra Kvitova went down to number five after making a third-round exit following her loss to Jelena Jankovic.
Meanwhile, Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza of Spain jumped 11 places to move on into the top 10 for the first time ever – she is now in the 9th spot.
The men's ATP rankings remains unchanged, with World No 1 Novak Djokovic maintaining his healthy lead after a third Wimbledon title win against Swiss Roger Federer, with Andy Murray at third and Rafael Nadal at number 10.
