After losing her singles quarter-final, Sania Mirza found some consolation by way of a berth in the doubles semi-finals, in the Sony Ericsson International WTA tournament in Bangalore on Friday night.
She and Italy's Mara Santangelo got the better of Neha and Shikha Uberoi 6-3, 6-1.
In Saturday's semi-finals, Sania and Mara will play Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia, who got the better of Chunmei Ji (Chn) / Shengnan Sun (Chn) 7-6, 6-4.
In the other quarter-finals,Yung-Jan Chan (Tpe) / Chia-Jung Chuang (Tpe) beat Alberta Brianti (Ita)/ Mariya Koryttseva (Ukr) 6-2, 4-6, (10-8) while Jarmila Gajdosova (Svk) / Christina Horiatopoulos (Aus) accounted for Yulia Beygelzimer (Ukr)/ Yuliana Fedak (Ukr) 6-3, 6-3.
