Indian tennis star Sania Mirza began the 2015 season and her partnership with Su-Wei Hsieh with a hard fought 7-5, 6-3 win over Jarmila Gajdosova and Ajla Tomljanovic, in Brisbane on Tuesday.
The top-seeded Indo-Taipei pair got the better of unseeded Australian-Croatian pair in one hour and 10 minutes.
In the quarter-finals of the $1,000,000 WTA event, Sania and Hsieh face the Australian pair of Anastasia and Arina Rodionova.
Sania had a tremendous 2014 season with Zimbabwean partner Cara Black, with whom she won the year-end finale in Singapore.
