India's two top women's singles shuttlers, Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu, have decided to skip the upcoming China Masters Super Series to be held from September 10-15.
India's participation will be restricted to men's singles competition which will see shuttlers Ajay Jayaram and Anand Pawar in action for the Tier-II event to be held in Changzhou.
"I will not be playing at the China Masters. For me, Japan will be the next tournament," Saina said.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) vice-president TPS Puri said, "They are not participating in China Masters as they want to recover and train properly before playing in Japan."
"It is nothing new because it was decided by the chief coach before the World Championship. After the IBL, they would be training at the camp in Hyderabad," Puri informed.
The Japan Open Super Series will be held in Tokyo from September 17-22.
