Richa Mishra claims fourth gold

Ace swimmer Richa Mishra hogged the limelight, winning four gold medals to underline India's supremacy in the pool at the ongoing SAF Games.

Indian swimmers have stamped their authority with a rich haul of 26 golds, nine silvers and two bronze medals in the week-long competition.

At the last Games in Kathmandu, India returned with 26 gold medals, seven of which were won by Nisha Millet.

Richa Mishra's rich haul of four gold medals from as many events, included three new marks.

Sivaranjani followed Mishra to claim silver in all the races.

Richa set new marks in the 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley and 800m freestyle events.

In the other final event of the day, India's Reshma Millet won the gold in the 100m freestyle.

In the 4x100m medley relay, the Indian quartet of Sumi Cyriac, Bhavana Sharma, Richa Mishra and Reshma Millet, led in every leg of the race to win with a new Games record.

Women finals:

100m freestyle: 1. Reshma Millet (Ind) 1:02.54 secs; 2. Chathuri Abeykoon (Sri) 1:05.05; 3. Kiran Khalid Zaman Khan (Pak) 1:06.60 secs.

200m butterfly: 1. Richa Mishra (Ind) 2:23.65secs NGR (Old: Bula choudhury-India- 2:25.55 secs-Colombo-1991) 2. Sivaranjani (Ind) 2:41.32; 3. Sashiprabha (Sri) 2:44.65.

200m individual medley: 1. Richa Mishra (Ind) 2:29.01secs NGR (Old:Richa Mishra -- Ind-2:34.39 secs - Kathmandu-1999); 2. Sivaranjani (Ind) 2:34.30; 3. Kiran Khalid Zaman Khan (Pak) 2:39.48 secs.

800m freestyle: 1. Richa Mishra (Ind) 9:31.06 secs-NGR (Old:Sangita Rao-Ind-10.06.06 secs-Chennai-1995),2. Sivaranjani (Ind) 9:33.92secs; 3. Ayesha Tajwar (Pak) 11:00.76 secs.

4 x 100m medley relay: 1. India (Sumi Cyriac, Bhavana Sharma, Richa Mishra, Reshma Millet) 4:47.48 NGR (Old: Sri Lanka 5:28.06 secs - Colombo 1991), 2. Pakistan 5:02.96 secs, 3. Sri Lanka 5:07.09 secs.
