Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis of Switzerland stormed into the semi-finals of the Rome Masters with a straight-set victory over Julia Goerges and Silvia Soler-Espinosa on Thursday.
The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair beat the German-Spanish duo 6-4, 6-3 in a quarter-final match that lasted 71 minutes.
However, Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea, who won the Madrid Open last week, lost to third seeds Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands and Romania's Horia Tecau 2-6, 7-5, 8-10 in a second round match of Euro 3,830,295 prize-money ATP event held simultaneously.
Leander Paes and Daniel Nestor, his Canadian partner, take on the pair of Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and David Marrero of Spain on Friday.
