Badminton players P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth carry India's medal hopes on Day 11 of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Sindhu, along with Kidambi Srikanth, who made it to the men's singles quarters, are the only two medal contenders left in the badminton after the shock elimination of former World No 1 amd popular favourite Saina Nehwal on Sunday.
Sindhu advanced to the women's singles quarters after a dominating 21-13, 21-15 win in 40 minutes over Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying on Monday and will meet China's Wang Yihan in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Monday’s victory over Ying, should however serve Sindhu as a good morale booster against the formidable Yihan.
However, the Indian faces a massive task going into the match against Yihan, a silver-medallist at the London 2012 Olympics.
The other Indian competitor at the Games on Tuesday will be Greco-Roman wrestler Hardeep Singh.
Hardeep will be seen in action in the 98kg qualifiers, hoping to make it to the final and propel India’s dwindling medal prospects.
