Rahil Gangjee got off to a fine start with a five-under 66 to be placed at tied 22nd on a good scoring day in the first round of the Cox Classic on the Nationwide Tour in Omaha, the United States.

Gangjee, a rookie, had five birdies, an eagle and a double bogey in a tournament that has always been good for scoring.

He started on the tenth and birdied the 14th but quickly gave it away with a double on 15th before he birdied the 16th and eagled the 17th to turn in two-under 34.

In the second stretch he birdied the third, eighth and ninth to finish at five-under.

Daniel Chopra, meanwhile, shot 67 and was tied 39th with one bogey and five birdies.

Seasoned Tommy Biershenk carded a career-best equaling nine-under 62, while Elliot Gealy shot 63 alongside Matt Weibring and Aaron Goldberg.

Nine players are also tied at 7-under 64.
