Raja-Sharan enter Tashkent Challenger final

The second seeded Indian pair of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan scored a 5-7, 6-3, 13-11 victory over the Israeli pair of Dudi Sela and Amir Weintraub to enter the doubles final in the fifth edition of the $125000 Tashkent Challenger, at the Olympic Tennis School Tennis Complex, on Friday.

The right and left-handed pair needed 83 minutes to make the grade, with victory coming on their fourth match-point.

The Indian pair led 6-2 in the Super Tie-break before the Israelis clawed their way back. And, despite serving two double-faults and missing three match-points, in the end Raja-Sharan prevailed 13-11.

In the first set, the Indian pair was broken in the 12th game , but came back solidly in the second, breaking Weintraub's serve in the seventh game and Sela in the ninth game to  level the set scorers.

The Indians will take on the Russian pair of Mikhail Elgin and Teymuraz Gabashvili in the Saturday’s final.

The Russians scored a 6-3, 5-7, 10-4 win over James Cerretani of the United States and Adil Shamasdin of Canada in the other semi-final.
