Veteran Alok Kumar and national snooker champion Manan Chandra were included among the probables for the 8-ball and 9-ball pool events at the Doha Asian Games in December.
The Billiards and Snooker Federation of India announced 16 probables in the men's and women's sections after a camp in Kolkata, under the supervision of coaches Manoj Kothari and Subhash Agarwal, concluded on Wednesday.
"Kothari used his scientific techniques to show the movement of the ball to the players and that helped them a lot," BSFI secretary Ravi Tandon said.
The federation will conduct two camps for billiards and snooker -- from July 26 to August 4 in Nagpur and in mid-August in Mumbai.
"Since one player can represent the country in one discipline, the senior players can contest in billiards or snooker, giving way to the next best qualifier in the pool events," he said.
Anuja Thakur and M Chitra are the two notable players among the women probables.
Probables:
8-ball pool:
Men: Dharmendra Lily, Manan Chandra, Alok Kumar, Sandeep Gulati.
Women: Anuja Thakur, M Chitra, Vidya Pillai, R Umadevi.
9-ball pool:
