After his maiden appearance at the US Open Saketh Myneni achieved a career-high ranking of 137 in singles in the latest ATP list.
Now, the 28-year-old Indian is set to get hooked in real life mixed doubles.
Myneni, who will lead India in the Davis Cup tie against Spain on Friday, proposed to girlfriend Sri Lakshmi Anumolu at the official Davis Cup dinner on Wednesday night.
The UPSC aspirant Sri Lakshmi managed to reply with a mere “Okay”, but it did make the evening memorable for Myneni.
The All India Tennis Association got to know of the development and celebrated it with a hurriedly-arranged cake.
India’s tennis legend Leander Paes, congratulated the couple with a tweet that it was the first time he had seen a marriage proposal in the Davis Cup.
