Paes-Stepanek in last eight at Shanghai Masters

Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek overcame a stiff challenge from Kevin Anderson and Sam Querry to progress to the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters.

The fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated the unseeded South African-American combination 6-4, 6-4 in little over an hour in the second round contest.

They next play Austria's Jurgen Melzer and Canada's Milos Raonic.

Paes-Stepanek did not face a single break-point in the match and broke once in each set.

Earlier in the day, the Indian doubles pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna also entered the quarter-finals, beating Treat Huey and Jonathan Marray in straight sets.

The seventh seeds beat the unseeded American-British combo 7-6(9), 6-4 in 66 minutes.
