Leander Paes's hopes of a second Grand Slam title of the year were dashed on Sunday, when he and Cara Black went down in the mixed doubles final at Wimbledon.

The top seeded pair, who won the US Open last year, was beaten by ninth seeds Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and Ana Lena Groenefeld of Germany 7-5, 6-3 in the final.

Paes, who won the French Open men's doubles crown earlier this month was bidding for his tenth Grand Slam title and fourth at Wimbledon, having won  two mixed doubles titles -- with Lisa Raymond in 1999 and Martina Navratilova in 2003, and the men's doubles in 1999 with Bhupathi.
