Railways, Services in Nat football semis

Impressive Railways continued their winning streak and made it to the last four of the 65th National Football Championship, for the Santosh Trophy, after defeating Services 2-1 in their last quarter-final league match in Guwahati on Tuesday.

But despite losing to Railways, Services pipped Goa and Punjab on superior goal difference to become the second team to qualify for the semi-finals, after Goa and Punjab played out a 1-1 draw in the last quarter-final match of Group B, at the Nehru Stadium.

Railways finished top of Group B with 9 points, while Services, Punjab and Goa finished with two points in their kitty.

Services now take on Manipur in the first semi-final, to be played on May 26, while Railways play defending champions West Bengal in the second semi-final a day later.

The final will be played on May 30.
