Already out of medal contention, Indian rower Swarn Singh Virk finished second in a minor placings race in single sculls while Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh fought to save themselves from ending bottom of the heap in lightweight double sculls in London Olympics on Wednesday.

Swarn came second in semifinal C, clocking 7:36.25 at the the Eton Dorney Rowing Centre. He had finished fourth in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, which ousted him from competing in the main semifinal round.
He will now compete in the final C on August 3, which will be for the 13th to 18th placing.
In the men's lightweight double sculls, Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh finished last in semifinal D with a timing of 7:19.31.
The Indian duo will compete against the Egyptian team of Mohamed Nofel and Omar Emira, who finished last in semifinal C on August 4 to decide who takes the wooden spoon.
