India's badminton campaign at the London Olympics was off to a disappointing start as the mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju went down in straight games to Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir in their opening group match in London on Saturday.

Jwala-Diju lost 16-21, 12-21 in just 25 minutes at the Wembley Arena.

In a lopsided contest, Jwala and Diju failed to take lead even once in the entire duration of the Group C encounter.

The Indians will next face the Danish combination of Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl on Sunday.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
