It was a day for revelry and as all of India got into the spirit of Holi, our sports stars too celebrated the festival of colours with their loved ones and, of course, spread the love to their fans too!

Our well-loved cricketers  -- Indian and foreign – as well as our decorated Olympians took to Twitter and other social media outlets to greet their fans on Holi.

Happy Holi, everyone! Aaj khoob khele hum Sab! :),” tweeted India’s gymnastics queen Dipa Karmakar.

The Rio Olympian posted pictures of the fun times she had with her family and friends and her coach Bisweshwar Nandi.

Rio Olympic-bronze medalist Sakshi Malik also greeted her fans with a heartfelt message.

“Wishing you and your family a very bright, colourful and joyful HOLI. With love and best wishes,” the wrestler tweeted.

Among the cricketers, Australia’s David Warner, Steve Smith and West Indies’ Chris Gayle also wished the fans on Instagram.

India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli and his teammates who were travelling to Ranchi for the 3rd Test could not celebrate  the festival but Kohli left a message for his fans on Twitter.

Happy Holi everybody. Have a great day today. Please make sure no harm is done to the animals on the streets. God Bless all,” the captain tweeted.

All decked up in Indian attire and his face filled with colour, Clarke looked to be enjoying himself.

“Happy holi!! Enjoying celebrating with some local families,” he tweeted.
