Shaik Abdullah and Fatehdeep Singh came a cropper in the decisive doubles rubber as India lost the opening tie on the junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania qualifying round 1-2 to fourth seed Chinese Taipei in Delhi on Monday.

Fatehdeep was the first on court and lost the opening singles 7-6(3), 3-6, 1-6 to Chih-Chun Tang.

Abdullah though brought the hosts back in the tie with 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Wen-Chun Liang.

However, the Taipei players clinched the Group D tie when Tang and Wen-Po Tseng defeated the pair of Fatehdeep and Abdullah 7-6(6), 6-0 in the doubles.

India will now take on sixth seeds China on Tuesday in a must-win tie.

Two teams each from four groups advance to the quarter-finals of the Asia/Oceania zone.
