Former world squash champion Jansher Khan was arrested and sent to a Peshawar jail on Thursday after his anticipatory bail in a case relating to allegedly injuring and insulting a woman and her family was rejected.
On the complaint of Rukhsana Habib, police had registered a case against the eight-time world champion and his three companions on June 8.
The complainant told the West Cantonment police that Jansher with his companions -- Nawab Ali Aulia, Qazi Halim Jan and Mehboob -- stormed into her house in Lal Kurthi area the night before.
She alleged that the armed attackers forced her and her family members to leave the house before beating her up and tearing her clothes.
Police registered a case against the accused under section 354A, 448, 188, 506, 148 and 149 of the PPC.
Later, police raided the house, arrested the three accused staying there and recovered two unlicensed pistols from their possession.
Jansher denied the charges and secured bail anticipating an arrest.
Rukhsana said her brother, Shakoor, a retired Pakistan Air Force official and former football player, had borrowed Rs one million from Jansher, who was his friend, in 2003 on the condition that he would pay him mark-up on bank rate.
Rukhsana claimed that his brother had given Jansher the documents of his house as surety.
She alleged that Jansher started blackmailing her brother and family and unilaterally doubled the mark-up.
She claimed her brother had paid about Rs 1.7 million against the Rs one million loan, but Jansher was demanding Rs four million.
