Indian Open golf returns to Asian Tour

The 48th edition of the prestigious Indian Open, which returns to the Asian Tour schedule, will be held from October 13-16, with a record prize purse of US $1.5 million.

This exciting development makes the tournament the richest full-field Asian Tour event.

A newly-inked agreement between the Asian Tour and Nimbus Sport ensures that India's National Championship features prominently on the Asian Tour schedule for the next three years.

Since its inauguration in 1964, the Indian Open has unearthed many of the country's finest talents, including the likes of Arjun Atwal, Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa and Gaganjeet Bhullar.

It also attracted international players like Daniel Chopra, Mark Brown and Darren Beck in the past.

As India's oldest running international sporting competition, its continued popularity has also inspired many aspiring young golfers to pick up the game, making it one of the fastest growing sports in the sub-continent.

Asian Tour Executive Chairman, Kyi Hla Han lauded Nimbus Sport's latest commitment to the development of golf in India and is confident that the Indian Open will continue to grow from strength to strength.
