Indian archers put up a dismal show in the 45th World Archery Championship as both the men and women teams failed to qualify for the knock-out stage in Ulsan, South Korea, on Wednesday.

The Indian men managed only 4047 points, which earned them the 21st place in a pool of 29 countries, while their women counterparts finished last in a 21-strong field with 3891 points in their kitty.

Only the top 16 teams make it to the knock-out stage of the tournament.

Compound archers, nowhere near the world standard, found the going tough, while National champion Chinna Raju Srither, who finished 48th place in a field of 111, was the best-placed Indian.

Srither scored 1359 points, while Jhano Hansdah was the best Indian women finishing in the 51st spot in a field of 83, with 1325 points.

The story was no different for their compatriots. Among men Chungda Sherpa (58th) and in the women's category, Manjudha Soy (62nd) failed to impress.
