Good day for Indians in Czech International

Aditya Prakash, Trupti Murgunde, Gayatri Vartaki and Sayali Gokahle on Friday entered the pre-quarterfinals of the Czech International badminton tournament in Brno, Czech Republic after notching up contrasting wins in their respective opening round matches.

Aditya, the only Indian in the men's category to feature, spanked Polish Maciej Kowalik 21-8 21-9 in just 21-minutes to set up a last 16 encounter against fifth seed local favourite Jan Vondra.

In the women's section, Trupti beat French Elisa Chanteur 21-15 21-12, while Gayatri produced a stunning victory over eighth seed compatriot Neha Pandit 21-18 14-21 21-13.

Second seed Sayali Gokhale also registered an easy win over Croatia's Andrea Zvorc 21-15 21-12.

Trupti will next take Denmark's Karina Jorgensen, while Gayatri and Sayali will be up against Dane Camilla Overgaard and England's Fontaine Chapman respectively.
