Royal Wahingdoh FC notched up another three points after beating Sporting Clube de Goa 2-0 in the Round 6 game of the Hero I-League at the JN Stadium in Shillong on Sunday.

The Shillong side, with this win, return to the top of the table with 13 points.

Seityasen Singh provided the first goal of the match in the 40th minute, while Kim Song Yong delivered the second in the 57th as Wahingdoh reclaimed top spot in the standings with 13 points from six games.

Heavy rain prior to the start of play made conditions challenging for both teams, but Sporting Clube had more than the weather to overcome. The Goan outfit have scored just once this season so far and are second from bottom in the points table.

Kingfisher East Bengal were held to a 1-1 draw by newbies Bharat FC at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata. A first half strike by Ranti Martins was cancelled by Kris Bright after the hour-mark.

Armando Colaco decided not to involve Milan Susak and Leo Bertos in the proceedings with an eye on the Kolkata derby scheduled on Tuesday. Dudu Omagbemi started from the bench while Baljit Singh Sahni made his second Hero I-League start of the season.

In the first 10 minutes, East Bengal had a number of half-chances with Baljit Singh Sahni playing the role of the creator. However, an off-target effort from an unmarked Lalrindika Ralte and a harmless cross by Harmanjot Singh Khabra couldn’t break the deadlock. With this result, Bharat FC earned their second point of the campaign, while East Bengal kept loitering in the mid-table.
