Gold for Shreyasi, Sushma as Chandela shocks Ghatkar

Shreyasi Singh and Sushma Singh bagged gold medal in women's double trap and sports pistol events, respectively, while Sushil Ghaley clinched the yellow metal in men's rifle in New Delhi on Monday.

Shreyasi of Bihar shot 88, and there was a tie for the second position between Seema Tomar and Varsha Tomar of Army after both scored 83, but the former prevailed in the tie shoot.

Uttrakhand's Sushma won the gold medal after she shot 580 + 200.5 and Rahi Sarnobat of Maharashtra bagged the silver with the score of 583 + 196.4. The bronze went to Annuraj Singh for scoring 573 + 201.6.

Armyman Ghaley shot 593 + 102.4 followed by Rakesh Manpat of Karnataka (591 + 103.2) and Navy's Sanjeev Rajput who shot 588 + 104.

In women's air rifle event, Apurvi Chandela of Rajasthan won the gold medal with a score of 395 + 103.7 and Pooja Ghatkar of Maharashtra clinched the silver with a score of 395 + 103.5. The bronze went to Pournima Chinmoy of MP for scoring 396 + 101.6.

In the air rifle junior women's event, Nikita Salunke of Maharashtra won the gold with a score of 396 and she was followed by Chandela of Rajasthan (395), with the bronze going to Mampi Das of West Bengal after she shot 393.

In the double trap men's event, two rounds have been completed today and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore of Army was leading with 96. He was followed by Mohd Asab (95) of UP ahead of Ronjan Sodhi and Shayan Masood who scored 93.
