Four-time champions Goa registered a solitary goal victory over Punjab to enter the semi-finals of the 70th Senior National Football Championship, for the Santosh Trophy, in Nagpur, on Monday.
The only goal of the match was scored by Francis Fernandes in the 17th minute.
Goa maintained the pressure in the second half too but could not increase their tally.
Goa finished the league stage with 10 points after three victories (Assam 1-0, West Bengal 3-1 and Punjab 1-0) a goalless draw with Tamil Nadu.
In the day’s other fixture, Tamil Nadu beat West Bengal 1-0, the lone goal coming through M Soosai Raj five minutes into the second half, to also make it to the semi-finals.
Punjab had earlier lost to West Bengal and beaten Assam.
On Sunday, defending champions Services entered the semi-finals after defeating Maharashtra by a solitary goal, scored by Francis Zoununtluangn just minutes before the final whistle.
In another league encounter, Mizoram prevailed over Jammu and Kashmir 4-1.
