October 05, 2009 19:38 IST

Mumbai's Formula One fans have a treat in store. Ace driver David Coulthard is scheduled to drive down the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link at blinding speed in a Red Bull racing car on October 11.

The former F1 British driver was originally scheduled to perform innovative F1 show runs, including revving up to speeds of 320 kmph and doing 360 degree spins, in the 'Red Bull Speed Link' last month but it got postponed due to the swine flu epidemic.

The 38-year-old Scot, a consultant this year with Red Bull after 14 active years on the F1 circuit, won 13 Grand Prix races and finished on the podium on 62 occasions while representing Williams, McLaren and Red Bull, in that order.

Coulthard is the leading British driver, in terms of points scored (535 from 247 races starting 1994), in F1 history.

Ahead of the show-piece drive by Coulthard, Red Bull has scheduled a five-day line-up of events for the public, ranging from technical assembly of the car and firing up of its engine to showcasing the F1 car at two city malls, in Malad and Mulund, according to a statement from the organizers of the event.
